Susan Conner
Executive Vice President, Impact Strategy
A professional with more than 25 years' experience in communication and philanthropy, Susan O. Conner served most recently as senior vice president for Public Affairs and Corporate Communications of USA Group, the nation’s largest student loan guarantor, and provided leadership for the holding company’s nationwide communications programs.
Conner joined USA Group in 1992. Before that she worked seven years as director of communications for Lilly Endowment, one of the nation’s largest private foundations. From 1979 to 1985, she served as editorial editor, public affairs producer and on-air talent at WRTV-6, the ABC television news affiliate in Indianapolis.
Conner began her professional career in 1973 as a teacher of journalism and manager of school publications in Lawrence Township schools in Indianapolis.
She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Indiana University School of Journalism and has taken postgraduate coursework in mass communications from the same institution. She serves on the Board of Directors of Grantmakers for Education.
