Purpose: To help 70 teen parents prepare for college.
Amount: $75,000
Summary: The School to College Transition (SCT) program offers young fathers, ages 16 to 27, services to access postsecondary education. This grant will expand the program in the following ways: Educational outreach to the mothers of the children served by the agency; additional services including college visits, financial aid counseling, college orientation classes, mentoring and peer support groups for young parents, and collaboration with Ivy Tech to track and provide statistical data for SCT students who enroll. Student services will be delivered through classroom instruction, group meetings, home visits, jail visits and counseling sessions.
