Lumina Foundation launches monthly electronic newsletter
INDIANAPOLIS - Lumina Foundation for Education, which works to expand access and success in postsecondary education, will launch a monthly electronic newsletter to provide reliable, balanced information about higher education issues. Topics covered in
Student Access & Success News will include financial access, educational degree or certificate attainment, and opportunities for underserved students, especially adult learners.
"We hope to expand college access and student success nationwide," said Martha D. Lamkin, president and CEO of Indianapolis-based Lumina Foundation. "We believe the newsletter will raise awareness among opinion leaders and practitioners of this vital issue, thus helping to improve both policy and practice on behalf of students."
The inaugural issue, to be distributed this week, includes news about an effort to close the achievement gap, a community college success story about a single mother of three, information on Lumina Foundation's publications and more.
Future topics include access barriers and solutions, attainment and student success, preparation issues, adult learners, accelerated learning plans, distance learning, and Lumina Foundation for Education research and publications. The newsletter also will offer links to other publications covering Lumina Foundation issues, higher education research project updates, reports on budget/funding issues, projects currently funded by Lumina Foundation and best practices.
Student Access & Success News will be sent free of charge to grantees and grant seekers, policy-makers, members of the higher education community, the media and others. Subscribers will always have the option to unsubscribe. Also, Lumina Foundation's privacy policy ensures that e-mail addresses are secure, private and will not be used for other purposes.
