Experts to review college cost solutions
Lumina Foundation has named seven higher education experts to review policy papers that offer thoughtful, workable suggestions that address the problem of spiraling college costs. More...
Policy papers are still being sought in response to a "Call for Solutions" that accompanied "Collision Course," the Foundation's most recent policy brief.

ACCESS:  COLLEGE AFFORDABILITY
College Board releases reports on tuition, financial aid
Tuition increase rates are smaller than last year's increases, but they are still high by historical standards. Also, lower growth in grant aid in 2002-03 and 2003-04 has caused students to rely more heavily on loans, according to two reports from The College Board, Trends in College Pricing 2004 (PDF), and Trends in Student Aid 2004 (PDF).

Presidents of 15 independent colleges and universities across the nation have contributed to a new Lumina Foundation report that highlights success strategies for low-income students. Powerful Partnerships: Independent Colleges Share High-impact Strategies for Low-income Students' Success, a volume of essays solicited and chosen by the Council of Independent Colleges, illustrates the range of institutional efforts that can influence access and success for low-income students.

New report examines changes in the college-choice process
The process of choosing a college has significantly changed over the past 50 years.
