James C. Lintzenich
James C. Lintzenich was elected an original director of Lumina Foundation in July 2000, having served as chief executive officer and vice chairman of USA Group, Inc. from 1997 until the sale of USA Group’s assets to Sallie Mae on July 31, 2000. Mr. Lintzenich served as president and chief operating officer of Sallie Mae from 2000—2001. He joined USA Group in 1982 and was elected to USA Group’s board in 1990 while serving as its chief financial officer. He previously served as controller of Continental Training Services, Inc., assistant controller at Ingersoll-Rand Co. and senior auditor at Ernst & Young where he received his CPA certification in 1978. He received his B.S. in accounting at Ball State University and completed the executive management course at the Johnson Graduate School of Management—Cornell University.
Lintzenich serves on the board of directors of Ball State University Foundation. He resides with his wife, Marybeth, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. They have two sons and one daughter.
