A new resource from the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration aims to support higher education institutions, state leaders, and advocates as they respond to heightened federal efforts to challenge in-state tuition policies for undocumented students.
According to its creators, the “Protecting Tuition Equity Playbook” playbook is designed as a practical, action-oriented resource for states and institutions actively defending tuition equity laws, proactively strengthening communication and coordination, and preparing to support students if access is threatened or revoked.
Among other things, the playbook equips higher education institutions and state and community coalitions with the information and tools needed to:
- Understand the legal and policy landscape surrounding tuition equity;
- Prepare proactively for potential federal or state challenges;
- Respond effectively and collaboratively if litigation or misinformation arises; and
- Support students and campus communities through periods of uncertainty.
