Monica Robinson

Director of Convenings

Monica Robinson is the director of convenings for Lumina Foundation, an independent, private foundation in Indianapolis that is committed to making opportunities for learning beyond high school available to all. Based in Lumina’s D.C. office., she oversees all of Lumina’s virtual, hybrid, and in-person events.

Robinson is a recognized leader in strategic planning and execution of in-person and online events. In her most recent role as chief event strategist with Voltron Data, she directed all internal and external programming initiatives. She has served as an executive DEI consultant for Project Impact, an organization serving the needs of corporate and religious communities with a focus on civil rights, social justice, urban ministry, and activism.

Previously, Monica was executive director of the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals, a non-profit organization dedicated primarily to African American meeting professionals’ professional development and training needs; and VP of Communications and Learning with AMC Institute, an international organization that promotes service excellence among association management companies.

Originally from St. Louis, Monica attended Southern Illinois University, where she studied theatre with a specialization in theatre business management. She began her career in events management at the Ritz Carlton, followed by the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis.
