PJ Woolston

Director of Strategic Insights

PJ Woolston, Ed.D., is the director of strategic insights for Lumina Foundation, an independent, private foundation in Indianapolis that is committed to making opportunities for learning beyond high school available to all.

In this role, Woolston helps develop and implement the tools and infrastructure to measure the impact and effectiveness of Lumina’s work. By synthesizing data, surfacing key insights, and “telling the story” of the work, he informs staff and leadership about what is being learned and how the foundation can continuously improve.

Woolston has more than 20 years of experience in higher education. Before joining Lumina, he was vice chancellor for enrollment management at IU Indianapolis. Before that, he served as vice president for enrollment management at the University of Texas-Permian Basin and at Marian University in Indianapolis.

Woolston earned a bachelor’s degree in French studies from Brigham Young University, a master’s degree in music from the University of Michigan, and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Southern California.
