A June 2016 poll from The Alliance for Higher Education and Democracy provides views from higher education leaders about differences across groups in higher education attainment. One of the key findings: About half (49%) of the respondents report that the single most important reason why college attainment is lower for students from lower- than higher-income families is insufficient academic preparation or readiness for college.
