In 2011-12, some 44 percent of students in public two-year institutions worked while enrolled in their first year of postsecondary education, according to a report from the National Center for Education Statistics. The study describes the employment of students attending public two-year institutions before they enrolled in postsecondary education for the first time, as well as during their first year of college. It also examines how employment is related to students’ postsecondary experiences and employment outcomes after exiting school.
