Students and employers overwhelmingly view microcredentials as critical to career readiness. According to a new report from Coursera, 85 percent of students who have earned a microcredential say it improves job prospects, and 91 pecent believe it will help them succeed once employed.

Additional findings from the study show that 90 percent of employers are also willing to offer higher starting salaries—often 10–15 percent more—for candidates with recognized or credit-bearing credentials. Plus, 96 percent agree that micro-credentials strengthen a candidate’s application, with 87 percent of employers having hired at least one microcredential holder in the past year.
