A study from Burning Glass Technologies and Service Year Alliance reveals how service year alumni differ from their peers, both in the careers they forge and in the skills they develop. These key findings emerged:

  • Service year alumni go on to complete bachelor’s degrees at higher rates than their peers.
  • Service year alumni are more likely than their peers to work in education, and community and social services occupations.
  • Service year alumni are more likely than their peers to advertise skills related to leadership and organization, which are commonly developed in service year programs.
