Thirty states increased their investment in public colleges and universities in 2013, according to a new report from the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association. The study says states spent $81.6 billion on higher education in fiscal year 2013, up from $81.1 billion in 2012. By comparison, state and local support for higher education was $88.8 billion in the 2007-2008 academic year.
