Postsecondary education is increasingly important for Alabama to attract and retain high-wage, high-skill jobs in all sectors, and the more people obtaining degrees and certificates, the better. This report, which highlights the impact of COVID-19 on Alabama’s Black Belt, calls for increased investments in postsecondary education in the Black Belt, to help make community colleges the default from the Black Belt’s high schools, and to facilitate transfer and degree completion at four-year universities and colleges.
