North Carolina’s public education system is at a crossroads. Currently, lawmakers continue a decades-long debate over meeting their constitutional obligations of funding public education in the state. Other education stakeholders, led by MyFutureNC, are working to uplift the state’s workforce by ensuring that two million North Carolinians have a postsecondary degree by 2030.

At the same time, the faces of students and families in North Carolina’s schools continue to diversify in racial, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic origin, with Latinx students and families leading that change. These families face significant equity gaps in educational outcomes, from kindergarten readiness to postsecondary attainment.

A new report from LatinxEd identifies major challenges facing Latinx students and families, innovative solutions that are sowing seeds of change, and recommendations to local and state stakeholders on advancing Latinx student success.
