Four-year colleges are finding new ways to help students succeed
In this Focus, you’ll visit three very different colleges that have been in the vanguard of the effort to transform the four-year experience to benefit today’s students.
- In Decatur, Georgia, you’ll meet Dax Vandevoorde, 21, a self-described “math nerd” who sought a college where she could thrive in STEM courses while getting a solid grounding in the liberal arts.
- In North Carolina, you’ll visit Fayetteville State University, an HBCU near Fort Liberty, the nation’s largest Army base.
- Finally, you’ll hear from students at Northern Arizona University, a large public institution in Flagstaff.
The online version of this Focus issue features several extra features, including compelling videos of students and links to related content.
