In 2018, the Institute for Higher Education Policy launched its “Degrees When Due” initiative to identify barriers to college completion, re-engage the “some college, no degree” population, and promote equitable postsecondary attainment. From 2018 through 2021—through a global health pandemic and the economic downturn it caused— DWD deployed student-focused, evidence-based, and equity-centered degree reclamation strategies to help students complete credentials that realized education goals, opened opportunities to new careers, and transformed lives.
