The COVID-19 pandemic upended American higher education in multiple ways, disrupting instruction, increasing economic insecurity, and isolating students from their support systems. The specific impacts of the COVID-19 virus on students, however, are not well understood. A new research brief from the Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice estimates that 7 percent of students self-reported a COVID-19 infection, with sizable differences by race/ethnicity, Pell Grant status, parenting status, and student-athlete status.
