In California and across the nation, students are entering college with individual math proficiency deficits that must be more effectively addressed, states this new report. The study offers several recommendations for improvement, including the use of data to identify promising practices, appropriate assessments that measure actual learning, and professional development and mentoring opportunities for faculty members, counselors, academic advisers, and other support staff.
