The site is part of the College Costs: Making Opportunity Affordable initiative, and includes a list of partners who will participate in a national summit in early November.
COLLEGE COST: AFFORDABILITY Rising college costs threaten degree attainment If college costs continue to rise, by 2010, 4.4 million low-income students who are qualified to go college will be unable to enroll in a four-year institution because they can't afford it. Nearly half of those will be unable to pay for an education at a two-year institution. COLLEGE COST: DEBT U.S. graduates devote more of their earnings to repaying education loans than graduates abroad A new report focuses on debt burden facing students and examines student-loans burdens in eight countries, including the United States. The Education Policy Institute study finds that graduates in the United States with low incomes and high debt devote a far greater portion of their earnings toward repaying their loans than do graduates in other countries.
