Strategic Communications Intern (Summer 2023)

Position Title:  Strategic Communications Intern (Summer 2023)
Department:  Strategic Communications
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Duration:  12 weeks, May 17 – August 11, 2023
Compensation: $16-$19 per hour for students enrolled in an undergraduate program
$18-22 per hour for students enrolled in a graduate program or a recent graduate
Schedule:  30 hours weekly required, maximum of 40 hours. Schedule can be negotiated with supervisor. 

Responsibilities

The candidate will provide support and assistance on specific projects for the Strategic Communications team. This will involve: assisting with summer digital/social campaigns; pitching stories to journalists and coordinating media interviews; researching and writing blog posts, op-eds, and news releases; and other tasks as assigned aligning with intern’s individual interests, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Education

Enrolled undergraduate or graduate student, or a recent graduate; we will also consider an equivalent combination of work and learning experience. 

Qualifications

  • Interest in philanthropy and its role in encouraging postsecondary attainment and closing equity gaps
  • Stable access to high-speed internet.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within and across Lumina teams.
  • Capable of editing, planning, scheduling, and pitching op-ed and related pieces.
  • Prior experience with social media outreach.
