People across the political spectrum say they are familiar with racial equity. However, some people who say they know and care about racial equity didn’t offer a relevant definition in open-ended responses. They may be missing the language to talk about it, don’t have it top of mind, or feel social pressure to say they are familiar with an idea they don’t fully understand.
People need to understand equity in order to care about it and take action, so messages should strive to equip audiences with a vision for what racial equity looks like.
