Filling in This Perception Gap Can Help Low-Income Students Succeed

For many community college students, making it from the first day of college to graduation is a struggle. Part of the challenge is understanding the unique needs of students, many of whom are low-income and balancing work, family, and school.
At LaGuardia Community College in New York, administrators want new students to feel like school is home, complete with the resources they need to make it to the finish line. This includes making available free food from LaGuardia's school pantry, programs to navigate finances and academics, student scholarships, and emergency funds.
