As the United States strives to meet a growing need for people with the right knowledge and skills, policymakers are working to shape a system of post-high school education that puts today's students first. The country is rapidly moving toward a consensus that Americans must acheive higher rates of college-level learning. That’s why most states have established goals of significantly increasing the proportion of residents with college degrees, certificates, or other quality credentials. The country needs more people who are prepared for work and for life.
