Community colleges across the country need to be creative in how they attract and enroll adult learners in their communities. For small colleges in particular, it’s critical that their touchpoints reach their students where they are, and for 97 percent of the population (according to Pew Research), that’s on their cell phones.

At Lumina Foundation, we recognize that focusing on a college’s digital presence and mobile capabilities is vital to colleges expanding their reach, promoting their brand, and supporting marketing efforts.

This summer, we partnered with six community colleges to support their capacity to engage and enroll potential students through enhanced digital presence, mobile design, and accessibility. Their strategies range from mobile optimization of their website to the adoption of mobile-friendly platforms and AI chatbots.

Iowa Lakes Community College, Bismarck State College, Blackhawk Technical College, South Piedmont Community College, Central Wyoming College, and Guam Community College will undertake this work over the next year.

TrendyMinds, a full-service digital agency, will also support this cohort through individual technical assistance and group trainings centered on strategic, creative, and interactive ways to reach potential adult students.
